https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+source/linux so it may finally

I am running peppermint 4 on an IBM Thinkpad X30 which has the Intel

black screens and hang ups. The workaround that Federico mentioned also
worked for me. The way I implemented it was:
changing/making the xorg.conf by
sudo
Similar wrong report here, integrated intel graphics but this is 32bit
system. Also mesa version shown is different:

OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.4, 128 bits)
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 10.1.0

As a shoot in the dark I tried removing xserver-xorg-video-vmware,
nothing changed.

imnichol, it's the linux in Ubuntu Trusty (kernel) package against
which this isn't filed yet (as Launchpad does not seem to offer any
straightforward way), but should be (and fixed again) under it since
it's been a regression against previous ones as well.

Public bug reported:
This is a system that has been upgraded to new versions of ubuntu many
times. Recently I switched display drivers to nouveau from nvidia-331.
Upon rebooting, I'm stuck in 640x480. SystemSettings says I'm using
nouveau, but actually, I'm using VESA. This is because there are
man-year-wasting indeed :-(
