Same problem here with HP laptop with AMD graphics. This workaround solves the
problem for me: change to terminal 1 before suspend, and back to terminal 7
after resume.
Place attached script in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ and sudo chmod +x
/etc/pm/sleep.d/20_fix_fglrx_freeze_on_resume

Hm looking some more, gnome-settings-daemon runs syndaemon with -t which
is 'disable tapping and scrolling'.
The moving the mouse is still allowed in that case, hardware buttons
too. But scrolling and using tap to click shouldn't be.
Keys used with modifiers are ignored by syndaemon too, it's

Following Straximus's lead (comment #18), I downgraded to the
xfce4-settings package from Saucy. I left the machines allow all weekend
long, and this morning the video on both machines worked as expected.
There is a regression bug between xfce4-settings 4.11.0-1ubuntu1 (saucy)
and 4.11.2-1ubuntu2
I can reproduce the issue by playing a video using vlc (both mp4 and
flv, probably other formats too).

Public bug reported:
fresh install on Q35 intel (amd64) motherboard hangs with launch of
intel Xorg.
Mythbuntu/Ubuntu 14.04 iso boots are identical. Setting nomodeset
causes no improvement (nor does acpi tags).
A mini.iso install of 14.04 works fine with no extra kernel parameters.
