Just for the record, I have the same problem on my Dad's machine.
Same 82865G graphics card, all worked under Precise but since upgrading to
Trusty (and some time struggling with Stellarium 0.13 before getting 0.12.4) I
get the white screen and the same errors as above.

I had to get rid of Ubuntu Trusty and install Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS on

Bumblebee so my Nvidia driver is 304.

If SLI is enabled, there are many flickering artifacts and double images
(especially tooltips). Eventually, the desktop environment locks up
completely and the computer needs a forced manual reset. I needed to
disable SLI as soon as possible and restart
