When I say "Wayland in Mutter" I do mean GNOME. That's what we are
involved in the development of, and recommend as the primary Ubuntu
environment.

I googled around and see gnome-terminal is popular. It does not drop
characters in color at end of line. Amusingly, $TERM is xterm-256color
!!!

way back! Mainframes likely still have them, even though they run UNIX
under the covers. So I should avoid using the PC monitor? Get a
terminal, install ssh for login, and come in

That ppa fixed my issue! Is this going to prevent other upgrades? I am not
super familiar with how different ppas for same packages would work. I imagine
a later version will be marked as an update and override those updates.

I still see a problem with Linux Mint 20.2 kernel 5.15.0-43-generic
While it goes to suspend I see a noisy color screen after resume. I cannot
login anymore and have to hard reset the laptop (Thinkpad T61p).
