Hi Seth.
Thanks for your great work. I can't wait to try!
I just tried to install 0.9 and had a problem on the install. I'm
probably missing something simple:

Building for architecture x86_64
Building initial

I have also followed the instructions at

Also, I didnt get the problem with the screen being dark. The screen is
fine, albeit slightly pixilated/fuzzy from the size being wrong, and the
black line down the side.

Ok, fixed it. Turns out I had missed a / when I was editing something.
Also seemed to help that I renamed the edid.bin file 'edidnew.bin'
instead.
This page adds some detail to the fix for the problem that isn't as clear in
the original site I visited:

I feel your pain, Jerry :(
It looks like the patch fd.o is queued up to go into Linus's branch
shortly but hasn't made it yet [1]. I'd guess that without any hangups,
it will go into the 2.6.31 release. Conveniently, that's also the
kernel version targeted for the final Karmic release as well
Great! I'll mark the bug as closed then.
The reason it's closed with the PPA driver and not the regular is that
the PPA is a sneak preview of what's coming down the road for updates
to the normal repositories. If the PPA driver fixes something then that
fix will probably end up in the mainline
I'm presuming that you no longer have access to the machine for
debugging purposes then, Jason, and am closing the bug. If you still
have access to the machine, please reopen the bug.
Thanks,
Andrew

Glad to hear that, Dausto!
Can we get the fix confirmed by the original reporter as well? That
would be ackdesha. Or if others using the 855gm card can confirm the
fix we'll go ahead and close the bug. Thanks everyone for the help
making Ubuntu even better.

Robert, we're putting a lot of effort into the -intel driver for the
upcoming release, and we'd like to send your bug upstream if possible.
But first, we need to collect more information. Please report whether

Oh sorry, I missed that it's working in 8.10 but not in Hardy. Getting
it fixed in Hardy would require a driver backport, which is more
difficult because of the potential with regressions. And the Xorg team
is especially careful about introducing new drivers into a stable
release because nobody
