As you can see from the Launchpad page, I have re-installed Precise and
cured the problem.
Unfortunately the directions you sent (below) don't mean much to me:

Thanks for mentioning that workaround, Carl. I've noticed it seems to
have allowed AIGLX to load properly but if I run glxgears the computer
(a Powerbook G4 15") hangs and I need to power off. Do you have working
GL support?

Up until this week this was working fine, but now when connecting to a
TV for video display via nvidia-settings the primary monitor becomes
corrupted and unusable.

Also, disabling the screensaver/screen locking is a workaround, but not

I also have the screen blanking issue which requires a reboot to resolve
(Same behaviour, can only see the mouse pointer). This is a complete
show stopper for me as I now have to reboot far more frequently than in
windows.

Had this problem on my HP DV6733TX laptop from at least Ubuntu 10.04,
still have in 10.10. Keyboard doesn't respond after trackpad is disabled
using trackpad toggle button is pressed, and USB mouse is also affected.
Mouse clicks don't register all the time, especially in menus.

Hello Bryce. I don't hold out much hope of this bug being fixed anytime
soon, and probably won't have access to my laptop to test it for some
months.
When I have time and access to my laptop again, I will be pursuing this

Yes, the backlight has never worked on my S3 Savage since about Hoary
Hedgehog :(
