Running 16.10 Gnome and regularly suspend the laptop. The background
picture turns into random rectangles on a black ground. No other
problems noticed. Restoring the same picture via right-click on the
desktop work until the next suspend.

Reinstall 14.04 from the 3/18/14 gnome daily build and do not see the
above problem. Have rebooted and no hangs have occurred. The lshw -c
display is as expected (no UNCLAIMED). Display appears normal.

I see two, what I though were related, 13.10 problems on my Laptop
(reported this bug on that system) and my desktop. The first, as
reported in this bug, is single characters becoming garbage which can be
corrected by causing that character to be refeshed (ie; marking the word
with the mouse).

Christopher, I installed today's daily build of Gnome 14.04 on my
laptop. I see no indication of either problem (bad single characters or
blank rectangles) with this system. I don't need any fix for 13.10
since this is only a display problem and doesn't stop me from any task I
want to do. I had
