You have to manually put the kernel parameter in the grub
configuration. This means a grub-update will reset everything and you
have to do it again. Next time you restart, try looking at the
parameters at the grub screen by pressing e. Make sure the syntax is

Although before attempting any of the above I would recommend trying the git
master branch (or as close as) of the following

* [2] kernel
* [3] mesa

For anyone still experiencing this bug, here is a possible workaround
(thanks to ColdFeetBob for pointing it out)
Modify* /xserver/mi/mieq.c and rebuild xserver
* Increase the #define QUEUE_SIZE 512 to 1024, 2048 or 4096 [1]
Note that this is *not* a proper fix as you can see in the discussion
Workaround: xinput set-prop device id 257 1. Device id can be
obtained with xinput list.

middle click emulation
This should be configurable in gnome-mouse-properties I guess -
emulation is required to get usable copy/paste with a two-button mouse,
so having to hack config files is not really acceptable. Can this bug be
moved to that package or should a new one be created? Or are there other
