Affects me too. Dell Latitude D800 notebook with: 1.4 Ghz Pentium-M, nVidia Geforce4 4200 AGP 8x [NV28] Currently running Lubuntu 12.04 (for the non-PAE kernel) using the nvidia-96 driver. I had to downgrade xorg to Oneiric's version to be able to install run nvidia-96.

Nouveau has not supported the NV28 video cards since Ubuntu 8.10 was issued (8.04 worked perfectly). In my case I have an nVidia Geforce4 4200 [NV28] factory-OEM installed in a Dell Latitude D800 notebook. There is no replacement video card for this notebook that I am aware of and replacement

As the release notes suggested, I tried booting the Live-CD with 'nomodeset' option under the F6 menu. Interestingly, the vertical lines were still there but everything (icons, pointer etc.) was doubled about 1/2-inch to the right. I mean 2 Install Ubuntu icons, 2 Examples icons, 2 pointers.
