I was also getting ramdon hard freezes in 13.10. I couldn't even switch to the the consle to cleanly reboot. Had to do a hard kill. I was abble to fix my problem by removing nouveau and installing the Nvidia driver. You results may vary. sudo apt-get install nvidia-current sudo apt-get remote

I could never go 10 minutes without having a lockup using nouveau. Maybe it just happens less often with nvidia-current. Haven't seen any since I changed the driver. Overall, I think this issue is related -- it just happens more often in certain setups. Not sure what to say about the people with

Sorry, talking about the restricted drivers here. After installing them When I installed the PPA is said the linux-headers package said it has unmet dependencies. Probably because I am still on Karmic. Should I file another bug specifically for that release or is this the best place for that? --
