This is happening on a regular basis.
I close my laptop's lid which causes it to go to suspend (according to
the indicator on the laptop it was successful). When I open the lid the
screen stays completely black except for my mouse.

On the suggestion of Sarvatt in #ubuntu-x I installed the ~ubuntu-x-swat
PPA and upgraded the xserver-xorg-video-intel package to
2:2.13.901-2ubuntu2~xup~maverick . He thought this bug was most likely
bug 626967.
It *may* be that bug, but, after restarting and hooking up a second
monitor my video

I routinely disconnect the external monitor cable (VGA) from my laptop
(Lenovo x200s) to connect it to my work desktop when I need to print
things (yes, a kvm switch would be nice).
After doing that today and coming back about 4 minutes later (about

My Lenovo x200s is connected to an external monitor (Acer AL2016W).
When I suspend by closing the lid on my laptop, I see the login screen
on the monitor for second before it suspends.
