Also experiencing this issue on a W530 running Fedora 18 with 3.11.10.
My second monitor is connected via the Lenovo dock connector. The bug
does not appear if the display adapter is switched to Discrete mode in
BIOS. I have also experienced this bug on a projector connected via VGA.

I'm seeing the same behavior on an HP 530 laptop (don't have it in front
of me at the moment; it's either a 945GM or 940GML chipset according to
specs) after an upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04. A workaround I've found is
entering the GRUB menu manually and booting with options quiet splash
removed.
This issue affects me as well. I have a ThinkPad T410. Though I haven't tried
the successive sleep-wakeup experiment, I suspect the crash occurs as described
by comment #18 above.
