Hey all, In addition to the 3.2.0-23-lowlatency kernel, I'm pleased to report that my Dell Latitude D620 HAS NOT CRASHED with the 3.3.7-030307-generic kernel. It had been running for almost six hours straight with not a single crash yesterday. The 3.4.0-030400-generic kernel did, though, after

I'm glad my solution helped you, Hessian. Basically, if you have to access GRUB to get the older kernel, then the only step you missed was removing the 3.2.0-25 kernel, as well as the 3.2.0-23-generic. No biggie. You're absolutely right, though; a few extra keystrokes is a small sacrifice to

Hessian: It's my pleasure, friend. It was quite accidental, since I was planning on having this be a portable studio and the only distro/remix which JACK will work with is KXStudio, and only the current version has a low latency and a realtime kernel. As it turned out, the low latency kernel

Michael: To clarify, it is the 3.2.0-23-lowlatency kernel that doesn't crash. The generic kernel does. The exact procedure is to go into Synaptic Package Manager (install it if you don't have it), search for all instances of 3.2.0-25 and have it removed. The next thing to do is to search for

It's pretty much been a week and I'm pleased to inform you guys that staying on Linux kernel 3.2.0-23 won't freeze the computer. Just make sure you're not using the 'pae' kernel because that seems to be part of the problem, unless you really, really need it. It doesn't need to be the lowlatency

I've also stumbled upon another possible cure due to the fact that I REALLY wanted to use KXStudio again (is the only distro that JACK will run on my laptop!!!) and the only version that has a low-latency kernel is the current one. The kernel that's used in this is actually slightly older, namely
