Same here. Clean 11.04 installation, all I did was to enable Partners
and then I updated the system. No programs or repositories added. Then,
I received the error:

I've tried to run 2.6.32 kernel but i guess something gone wrong cause i
couldn't boot it. I guess i have some kind of bad luck as i couldn't install
and run any version of ubuntu since 8.10 on my notebook.
I wonder - why is this bug appearing only on laptop computers?

Same here on HP Compaq 6820s
I changed input method from default to default-xim and i think the freezes got
a bit shorter. I'll experiment some more and keep you posted.

I tested fix gconftool-2 --set
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/scroll_method --type int 2 and it does
not help on Dell Studio 1557 10.10/x64.
Last version of Ubuntu that worked was 9.04 than it got broken in 9.10, fixed
at the end of release cycle but the patch din't make it to 10.04
I have the same problem on Dell XPS 1340, Nvidia G210M

I found it was fixed in unstable repositories. And in mainline kernel.
If you want test it, add in sources.list these lines:

I don't have the card at hand so I cannot easily re-test.
However, the card is not of some hybrid type ad it is detected
correctly, the X driver just fails to initialize it on some hardware.

I can't describe the problem properly, but:
1) Check the screenshot of World of Goo - some objects are drawed badly
2) Foobilliard draws just the board, nothing else (funny to play without balls)
3) Frets on fire doesn't draw
What you are seeing is different. For you no driver loads, and you
probably need an updated intel driver for that device.
For me the nv (or nvidia) driver loads but fails to drive the card.
