We're not experiencing the same error so it's hard to tell. You could
always try since you won't remove your current kernel by doing that. If
you need further help, consider asking at askubuntu.com or
ubuntufo

It is fairly straightforward to update. You will not receive the 3.3.
kernel through the update manager, but the patched 3.2 will of course
end up there when it comes.

now run kernel 3.3.6 and so far i've not experienced any freezes after
the upgrade.

I can confirm this also.
I first suspected faulty hardware, but the same error occurs with two differenr
motherboards.
Intel Z77 chipset (both motherboards) and Ivy Bridge i7-3770. I also do
not use any external graphics card.
