The problem can be reproduced as follow in ubuntu 21.10:
- run jedit (which was insalled with sudo apt install jedit)
- jedit starts and is working fine, but a right click on its icon in the dock
freezes the system
- it is still possible to log into the system using ssh and

ah, sorry, got hooked up with post #10 where Michal writes that "I cannot
change the "Disable touchpad while typing".
To me, that's the most annoying part about the touchpad that is not recognized
correctly - and as long as there's no kernel fix available thats the best but
rather crude

My initial trouble is now resolved but this message is still displayed into

Screen freezes occasionally, Toshiba Satellite A100, Ubuntu 10.04
For some time I have a keyboard issue at boot. It is relatively close to what
I've read here.
I think this issue appeared after a Lucid Lynx kernel upgrade. Before, it
worked fine.
Till GDM is displayed, the keyboard works well (usb Dell keyboard). I can enter
my login and password.

Please find what I posted as a question. This is all I have tried. I am
happy though to answer your question. As it is a problem a screen
display flickering it is tough to send any attachement.
I am running Ubuntu on my laptop Toshiba A100-168 PSAAA9. There is a built in
graphic card ATI Radeon
I uninstalled and reinstalled all X11 xorg packages. It din't fix anything.
Today I deinstalled the xinit package and fglrx then reinstalled xinit and the
ATI package.
To try to debug, I launched xinit via strace and I was able to see that my user
files .Xauthority .Xauthority-c .Xauthority-l
I did this test today.
I boot my machine with normal mode.
From an other machine I've been able to do a ssh connection to it.
With a ps -ef I can see that plymouth is still running and x is started
