Hello,
since a few days ago my mouse pointer stops to work out of a sudden. I
saw that the reasons could be many and I really couldn't find helpful
usage on the forums out there.
This issue happens from time to time since the first occurrence and I
IDK how to proceed.
Any
I selected the Display(xorg) category because it seems to have to do
with the intel graphics card driver. But probably not directly with
xorg.

Laptop does not wake properly from
I deleted lightlocker and replaced it with xscreensaver. Since then I
have had no problems.
IIRC I already did a BIOS update, but I'm not absolutely sure. I know I
updated the BIOS on *a* computer, but was it this one?

Same problem here with an Acer Aspire one. Which has an Atheros AR242x
(rev 01). I've tried using both NFS and Samba to mount remote file
systems. And, used both the file manager and cp to transfer files. No
mater what, I get a hard lock after transferring a couple of gigabytes.

I think the switch from EXA to XAA fixed this issue. No freezes with
Compiz (10hours)

I turned on Compiz and the System is freezing after a few minutes. Tried
the workaround setting AGPmode to 1 / 2 / 4, doesn't help.

My last try is switch AccelMethod from EXA XAA. I

I switched three days before to Karmic, 3 days no freezes yet. If a
freeze occur, I try the workaround with AGPMode.

Thanks Timo, I fixed that and my X-Server is back now.
I had to reconfigure the right keyboard. The new xserver does (did) not
overtake the old settings from hal.

I updated the driver to xserver-xorg-video-ati - 1:6.12.2-0ubuntu1~xup~1
(and the other packages) with one of the Ubuntu-X-Swat PPA
The System is still freezing.
