I can confirm, that nvidia-current 290.10-0ubuntu2 (precise) works fine with
kernel 3.2.0-10!

Added an Xorg.0.log.old from a boot attempt where this happened.
The screen gets completely black. No Ctrl-Alt-F1 or Ctrl-Alt-Del or similar is
possible, only Force-reset with Power-Button..

nouveau works but not with the full functionality i need (3d, hdmi, Twin-View..)
The intel graphics chip works as well but does not support hdmi.

this is a little contra against the option to install everything
without your package and be free to use any beta, actual on a
Daily basis.

Thanks Timo, I fixed that and my X-Server is back now.
I had to reconfigure the right keyboard. The new xserver does (did) not
overtake the old settings from hal.
