After updgrade to ubuntu 13.10 the issue seems no longer to be present.
Now nvidia-173 builds OK. So suggest to close this bug. Note that
although nvidia-173 builds, it is not running correct. That is another
story / should be other bug.

Christopher, Graham,
In my opinion it does not make sense to assign this bug to me. I opened
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1185911 for the
problem (which is still being processed). There is a 'small catch'. Up
to now, I fail to test if kernel v3.10.0 still holds the
Just some questions.
Do we need to wait for nvidia? Is it possible to tell how long they may
take?
Got today time to look into the failed build log. To me (programming
experience, but not in linux kernel) it looks like proc_fs.h changed,
create_proc_entry removed. Guess being replaced by
Public bug reported:
This bug is raised while attempting to install the nvidia driver onto an
installation of the daily build from 28-05-2013 with on top the 3.10.0
kernel. This actions was attempted to check for bug 1185911, to check
whether or not bug 1185911 is still present int kernel 3.10.0.
Add the build log file, it is supposed to hold information on the build

is more important. After burning the daily build live DVD taken from #63
my computer starts quite normal. It uses the nouveau driver, goes into

screen. No
Some more feedback. The install to hard disk seems to go well. Running
from hard disk, using nouveau driver, seems at first glance OK. I left
the system, later took out of screen saver. Background and top bar and
left side bar ok. But while attempting to open the system setting, the
initial menu

It seems, that I may have badly-configured compiz, but
removing all

did not help!
How may I get back to factory settings?
Thanks for your help!

One more remark: when booting from newly downloaded and burned life CD 12.10:
same behaviour.
Remark 2: there is a new bug Bug #1090761, which seems to me same as this one.
Please check for duplicate.

I am experiencing same issue, as far as i can judge from this
description. It looks like a duplicate of Bug #1068601, please check for
this. I filled some information on that bug, which may apply here as
well. Please look into this as well. Advise me on additional steps to
define root cause.
