Thanks for the feedback, but I don't believe I am using fractional
scaling. My scaling is set to 100%, but I have changed the font scaling
to 1.25.
If I set font scaling to 1.0, then I see the same tearing.

This happens to me about three times a week on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS with

consistently reproduce it. It is a random complete system freeze. The
mouse does not respond, caps lock and numlock do not change light on
keyboard, ctrl alt

wired mouse with the circle green plug end. I disconnected that one and
plugged in a USB mouse and the pointer showed up and has been working

Public bug reported:
My ThinkPad T43 works quite well with Ubuntu 12.04, but with a clean

then count the seconds as my letters slowly appear in sequence),
sometimes freezes (when I close an application, the icon becomes faded

Roughly 30% of the time I boot my system X does not start, instead I
boot into a shell. Looking at the Xorg.log I see:

[19.593] (EE) RADEON(0): Kernel modesetting setup failed

This is the dmesg output when the error occurs.

It's all very interesting but this bug is WONTFIX, as it's an issue in

This bug isn't WONTFIX, seems that someone has reopened the bug on X.org
server…

Can anyone see if the kernel patch solves the various other graphical

Yes, Bioshock works fine, as do most other programs in
wine-1.3.22-332-g016b7c5.
Duke Nukem Forever is still busted though, bug 27572.
