Public bug reported:
Not sure where it ends up! App is still running.
I can drag a window to another work space by dragging it to and over the
edge, and picking it up in the other workspace.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04
Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu
Upgraded to nvidia-337, when enabling panning the panned portion still
goes crazy.

Panning on nvida-304 does not work, screen
Public bug reported:
I can enable this option, but doesn't do anything, stays in single
workspace.
If you go to compiz, general options, and look at desktop size, it
doesn't show data for vertical virtual size and number of desktops. Can
set them with the unity tweak tool, but does not show up
Just tried the nouveau2 driver: same problem, so it's not an nvidia
driver problem.

nouveau driver exhibits exactly the same corruption, almost worse I
would say. Enabled it with:
xrandr --output LVDS-1 --panning 3520x1200
so not an nvidia driver bug, but somewhere in Xorg.

This worked fine in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, 32-bit version. Have now jumped to
64-bit version.

Title:
Panning on nvida-304 does not work, screen
Public bug reported:
When enabling panning in nvidia settings manager, nothing happens. When
doing so in 311/334 panning works, but as soon as you move a window in
there, the screen gets corrupt.
This might be an nvidia bug obviously, not sure.

I think also we have a list of different bugs here. I'm on a standard
Precise 32 bit: symptoms are lockup of X. Can ssh in from another
computer.
I followed one of the suggestions here to reset the Unity settings. Back
to default, and then simply re-entered the settings I would like to
have.
I've upgraded to Precise.
xrandr still reports max as 4096x4096, which I think the hardware
doesn't do.
The below might need a separate bug report:
system settings no longer crashes, but doesn't enable both displays. No
matter what I do LVDS1 is black. However, system settings thinks LVDS1

The built-in LVDS1 is 1366x768. The add-on VGA1 is 1920x1080. xrandr
reports the maximum resolution of screen0 as 409x4096. I'm pretty sure
that any horizontal resolution above 2048 causes
@Stefanek kudos for a stable work-around! I only replace Xorg with the
1.9 version and left the nvidia driver at 270.41.06 and after dragging
Konsole across 2 monitors for 5 minutes I still didn't lock up!
And I agree with the general consensus that this is quite severe and
taking way too long to
