With recent updates i think the gpu doesn't hang anymore.
checked the i915_error_state, no error state collected

Im running into a very similar issue. Im trying to use Wine to play any
of these games:
- Left 4 Dead 2 (this game I somehow managed to run once)
- Mass effect 2
- Mass effect 3
- Fifa 12
All of these games start and "run" with the open source drivers. The

I tried the Live-CD of Karmic-RC and the display is messed up when
booting. I use GeForce 6200 on 64 bit AMD, there are two screens plugged
in. Neither Xserver, nor, and that's really strange, the text console
will be usable, hence I cannot post any further information. Thanks
I switched to Ubuntu 8.10 beacuse 9.04 also had problems with pppoe
making it hard to conect to the internet. I had to use pppoeconf every
time I turned on the computer to conect to the internet.
