Public bug reported: 1024x768 resolution is not available by default in Ubuntu Trusty when connecting to Cisco KVM. It works fine with RHEL 6.5 (xorg-xserver x1.13.0) and SLES 11.4 (xorg-xserver v1.6.5). The workaround to enable display in Ubuntu Trusty is: 1. Stop lightdm (service lightdm stop)
