Anyway I guess you could try Ubuntu Tweaks to change this property or
simply set the option by editing the configuration file installed with
the package (I think it should be
"/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-libinput.conf"

I am very interested in the answer to question (1) because, despite that my
mouse works well now, I think its operation was better ("smoother") in
previous versions, and I still have sometimes odd right-click behaviour.

The default settings for the touchpad of a macbook 4,1 in Ubuntu 13.10
render an awkward mouse behaviour that is found during and after
installation. The following issues are found:
1) Moving the cursor shows an intermittent behaviour because the
parameters for FingerLow and

The issue is back. Ubuntu told me there were updates for my system, so I
installed them, and now the issue has returned.
I'm pretty sure what happened was that Ubuntu upgraded the old xserver-
xorg-video-intel package to the most recent version.
How can I prevent Ubuntu from trying to upgrade tha
Alright, I can confirm the fix works. According to the battery
indicator, the battery life seems to have almost doubled now, but I'll
have to test that to be sure.

I tried installing this package:

but it says I already have a more recent version installed.

I had this problem with ubuntu 11.10 when I pressing "2" or "Enter" at
login screen or in my account the first time I enter. A temporary
solution that work for me is:
Edit the file /etc/init/plymount-splash.conf and remove the line "or
stopped udev-fallback-graphics".
So it should be:

Me too, unity 3d is almost unusable with newest 270, 280, 290... nvidia
drivers with this card, you have to use older drivers 170 and they eat
all my CPU. I went back to 10.04 frustrated and with no effects at all
:-P

I have the same problem, and i think "is not a unity problem", I tried doing "
openbox --replace " to switch form unity to openbox and I have the same problem
in openbox, I can't move a window using the touchpad.
My machine is a UL80VT (same as UL30VT but 14") the machine have Elantech
touchpad.
It´s still go bad.
