To be honest, I have given up on this fault. In the meantime I installed
a 3.11.0-19-generic kernel for Ubuntu 12.04. The ill corner is still
there, but beyond its visual appearance it does not hinder anything

Fetched the current ISO image and brought it to an USB stick already.

I can also confirm this bug. I use the Blackbox window manager and as
far as I have tested the bug only occurs with the standard Raleigh
theme.
I just cross-checked: I use the Clearlooks theme in XFCE, leading to
this bug.

Can you reproduce it with normal ubuntu (not xfce)?
No, I couldn't. But even in XFCE it is quite difficult to assess at
which time this bug begins to surface: Right at the start of desktop
usage it is definitely not there. Only after some time I observe those
