The two following commands seems to have solved the issue :
>dconf reset -f /org/compiz/
>setsid unity

no panel/dash after login following a Ubuntu 14.10 installatio

The hardware is a laptop HP Pavilion dm1 that has been running Ubuntu for years.
I tried to upgrade to 14.10 (I had the fglrx driver at that time). The upgrade
went smooothly but when I came back to the login script. I logged in and no
unity panel/dash
I then reinstalle
