Am running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 Beta 2. Have been using Gnome so
decided to boot into KDE to see how the desktop would behave there. KDE
never really came up so after ~12 minutes, logged out.
Then tried booting in Gnome Failsafe. Desktop looked the way it was
supposed to with no offset. Okay, w
Initial splash of the desktop, in terms of desktop graphic image, after
login is fine. However once the panels and file icons are shown, the
desktop has shifted to the right.

Best guess that Xorg is culprit. Go easy on this new when it comes to
internals. :-)

See attached image for best description. For about the last week, say
starting 19 April, my desktop has been consistently shifted to the right
by ~512 pixels (interesting number that 512). The attached graphic shows
a screen shot taken that has a 1920x1200 monitor "on top" and
