I find all the i915 references a bit confusing, considering that the
graphics core is a GMA 4500MHD (mobile version of the GMA X4500). The
GMA 4500 is architecturally completely different than the i915 and the
differences in terms of features are significant as well. I was under

Can you try a more up to date livecd to see if this is still an issue?
Preferably a daily livecd build with the 2.6.32-19 kernel. It looks like
you had an issue with the powersave parameter for i915 but this should
be fixed by now.

I should note that Karmic unr works perfectly on the same machine. Well,
not perfectly (problem with netbook-launcher), but certainly no
flickering.
