Actually I think the alternatives system alberto has implemented for
mesa in lucid solves this issue nicely.
However, I *don't* know that it's been implemented for radeonhd. But
we're not really supporting radeonhd any further since all its
capabilities should now be in -ati.

There would probably be the same conflict between fglrx and the -ati
driver. In theory it should be possible to have both drivers installed.
The fglrx package should take care that the fglrx module is only loaded
if the fglrx driver is going to be used.
The xorg drivers do not have any conflicts

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
