Can you confirm (e.g. with uname -a on a terminal) that you really booted into the patched kernel 2.6.38-9.43+kamal~mjgbacklight4. If you did not select the kernel at boot time (hold shift to get a grub menu to select) you might have booted into the 2.6.39 kernel from the previous test. -- You re
