We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the
original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to
reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against
the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this
disabling capture_before_unmap seems to fix the problem. Here's my quick
test:
- Open a Chrome window on virtual desktop 1
- Open a terminal on virtual desktop 2
- Do Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Left to move the terminal to desktop 1
With capture_before_unmap enabled the terminal window is not displayed
The bug is indeed still present. I had missed the capture_before_unmap
suggestion. It was indeed turned off. I've now turned it on and will be
testing it.

Hi Jamie,
Possibly this is bug 740387 in metacity (also see #654768)? Do you have
capture-before-unmap turned on in gconf:/apps/metacity/general/ ? If
so, try switching it off and restarting, and then see if the problem
goes away (or reduces frequency).

I've noticed this also on my system (Ubuntu Natty, running Ubuntu
Classic no effects without Compiz). I have a Dell 1420 laptop with an
Intel video 'card' (Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated
Graphics Controller according to Hardinfo). I notice it in the classic
Gnome panels a lot,
Here's another screenshot (not sure how to add more than one at a time)
