I think the white round things are also salt-based.  So I think it's basically all salt, of one kind or another, which is bad for dog feet, soil, cars and buildings.  But it really WORKS, so I don't know if there's a solution!  Do people use sand and gravel anymore?  Or ash?    ELISABETH DUB
