This sounds a lot like an X performance issue particular to Jaunty which
got solved in Karmic when we moved to the 2.6.30-rc2 (and newer X bits).
Can you please test to see if Karmic solves this for you? Testing a

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've
