I'm relatively new to this too - I'm running SlimServer 6.5 on Ubuntu 6.06. I initially couldn't get ogg files to play. It turned out that LAME was not installed by default and is needed for the conversion to mp3 for streaming, even though there were no error messages in the slimserver log (var/lo

The SB can decode WMA and OGG natively so there is no need for the supports apps such as wmadec. However you need LAME if you are using bit rate limiting. If you are using Softsqueeze and your server is Linux based then you will need a server based decoding app for WMA such as ffmpeg or mpla

It's very likely a problem with the permissions of the folder (and parent folders) the symlink points to. My wild guess is that the slimserver user is not allowed to traverse into /home/me. My own library only consists of symlinks and that works just fine. -s. -- slimpy --

Is the target an external drive or a networked drive ? If the latter, you will need to mount then link to the mount point. Otherwise I would also guess permissions, although it sounds like you've specificially propogated the permissions to the target directory too (with chmod -R 777 * ?). Maybe
