As a relative novice in the Linux/Ubuntu world, and having previously
used EAC, I installed RubyRipper with no problems ... I found an
automated script to do it all for me.
I think that I used the Ubuntu DEB from this page:

If you're running a single-user Linux system, why do you need something
like apparmor anyway? If this were my system, I'd nuke apparmor and
everything of its ilk. I don't need my OS to protect me from myself.
I'm happily running SqueezeCenter 7.0.1 on my Gentoo Linux system: no
process quotas,

Soundjuicer (along with the correct FLAC GStreamer profiles, present in
Hardy) works great for me. It's now a default Gnome application, so is
present in Ubuntu. Musicbrainz is used to recognise CDs and it hasn't
not found one for me yet. Give it a go :)

Ah, I may have replied a bit hastily not realising you where using
Ubuntu Server. Anyway, so sound is not working at all? Do you have a
file called /dev/dsp? There should be some .wav files in
/usr/share/sounds, use one of these and try 'cp
/usr/share/sounds/wavfile.wav /dev/dsp'. Do you hear anyt
using Ubuntu 7.10 - I have been using the reference version of
dBpoweramp under wine to rip to FLAC, and it has been working very
well. I appreciate its use of AMG, automatic fetching of album art and
composer information, etc. I have also been using dBpoweramp for
resampling 96 and 88.2 kHz files

Rubyripper is IMHO the best Linux ripper out there because it will

I actually ment 'upgrading' FC3 to Ubuntu 8. Running it at work (7.10
that is) for some servers. The only thing lacking is some time - know
where I can buy some more of that :-)
