Unless you have > 4G of ram, you don't need or want the 64bit release
installed even if you have a 64bit CPU.

Ubuntu 6.04 was chosen for two reasons:
1) Because its long term release and the NAS was built before 8.04 came
out.
2) Because I have already set up the Squeezecenter on a different
Ubuntu 6.04 box (running a i686) and it works fine.
AMD64 was chosen for speed and price.

6.06? 64bit?
Any reason you picked this combination?

I have set installed squeezecenter on a AMD64 machine with Ubuntu 6.04
server for the purpose of running 7 Squeeze Boxs and being a NAS
machine. The install seemed to work but there is no webpage interface.
When I look at the server.log file i see the message "SqueezeCenter
died. Restarting" every

What workaround? flipflip's? Would be great to get some feedback, as we
consider including it with 7.1.

It's not ntfs that's the problem. It's windoze. When I boot, the
thing inconsistently loads, or chooses not to, my pointer and keyboard
drivers. The only option is to power

Unreliable _because_ of the dual boot? I've never run into that
problem with Windows NTFS.

I have been dual booting win XP and Kubuntu for about a year on my
laptop. Windows has been very unreliable and now the file system on
the HDD is corrupt. Normally, one could run chkdsk to fix it, but
chkdsk doesn't work when you have a boot-loader like grub on the disk.
Now I can't fix my wind
Thanks for this; I, too, am using this workaround for the time being to
get CJK filenames displayed correctly.

The ether-wake utility seems to send a magicpacket when asked from the
controller, I'll try it with a proper PC next.

OK, found it.
/etc/squeezecenter/server.conf.
changed IP to 127.0.0.1 but then sb3 was not found.
Also had to turn of the security.
Have to look into this a bit

Hello,
I managed to lock myself out (or rather squeezecenter) of my network.
Now my broser cannot reach it.
Where is this part of the config stored so I can reset it?
Kind regards,
Udo

I say *known* because you'd have to run the utilit

Indeed.
FYI, I use nvram-wakeup in case I need to simply pause the machine for
a short while. I currently have an ambient temperature check that can
shut down the machine and schedule it to restart 20 mins later.

Hey,
Yesterday I couldn't access my Squeezecenter in the browser for some
reason so I logged into my linux server and saw a whole host of these
