I've been using .deb on Ubuntu 8.04 for some time and update the

Ahh - after a little reading I'm going to guess it was apparmor that
needed restarting to load the new mysqld profiles post install. Anyway
of getting that step into the .deb, or the startup script?

Glad to help with the tool. Some distros install it by default,
debian/ubuntu make you install it with apt-get
Good luck with all the custom stuff, I
Thanks. I have a lot of players with custom menus, screensavers etc.
Would like to try and avoid having to set them all up again!

Shouldn't be a problem, but there is always
Quick question. I'm in the process of moving my server from XP to linux,
is there any reason I can't just copy over the config file (assuming the

After several days of frustration, I finally got squeezecenter to run on
Hardy. I followed the steps above and also had to create the following
sym link:
ln -s /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock /tmp/mysql.sock
The scanner wouldn't run because it wanted to connect using the
/tmp/mysql.sock instead of th
I've just installed the same debian lenny version (since ubuntu server
won't startup with missing/broken raid disks) and also have a
server.log full of "SqueezeCenter died. Restarting." which is by itself

tried 7.1 and also 7.

No audio drivers are used - the mplayrer solution will work on PCs with
no audio hardware as all mplayer/flac are doing is decoding a data
streams and converting it into another data stream.
The problem is likely to be some sort of system/network c
No problem. I revamped the wiki this morning, I still need to figure
out what to do for the startup scripts and manifests but the core
content is much better.
I'm now running 7.1 and the new Last.FM integration is very nice.

Thanks for this great info.
I'd googled and discovered the www.alekz.net site, so we are right in
sync. Now I'm just having a hard time getting the squeezenetwork
registration to send me an confirmation email.
Thanks again!

Sorry, there is a problem with the apparmor configuration that comes
with the stable version of squeezecenter.
You will need to run these commands from a terminal:
Code:
sudo rm /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld.squeezecenter.orig
sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor restart
