Ok, so, after many hours of research, trial-and-error, whatever, I finally got SqueezeCenter to play through my Amarok player . . . however, I still cannot get the Softsqueeze player to work... (v. 3.7) although the GUI opens I only get the message Please wait. Connecting to Slim Server . .

I've installed squeezecenter (many times, different versions, and always the same problem), and when i scan my music collection, i see only files ripped from CDs and not downloaded files ! how can i fix this ? -- Nepenthes

/opt/e17/bin that is the path to a test installation of enlightenment 0.17 which is a window manager for my X11 envirnoment. It is not my primary X11 shell which is e16 (enlightenment 0.16) It should not be conflicting with anything. Regarding starting an then failing that is exactly what happ

What you could try is to manually add the apt-source to your /etc/apt/sources.list If you do that then synaptic and other package managers should be able update and install. I'm currently testing with the stable release of Squeezecenter so the means the first line in my /etc/apt/sources.list deb

Millwood, I have run the invoke-rc.d test and no joy it simply wont give me running squeezecenter. apt-get install --reinstall and I get a working squeezecenter. I'm willing to tray lots and even gasp hack into the code. Squeezecenter's generic died and restarting message is not usefull at all.

all the install does to start squeezecenter is invoke-rc.d squeezecenter start. its hard to imagine what isn't working for you unless you are either not doing this as root or have a severely messed up root environment - PATH or some other thing like that. -- Millwood 2 SB3, 1 Duet Debian Etc
