the service won't be listed anywhere. The way to start it is to use a
start up script such as
sudo /etc/init.d/squeezecenter start
I also use a programme called webmin which allows access to lots of
services including sc.

I've got 9.04 installed on one PC and thought I had successfully
installed Squeezecenter.
Everything went well but I can't find it listed anywhere!
I'll have another go with the other PC tomorrow.

Thanks Mudlark. I have spent all of today trying to get 9.04 loaded on
to one of two PC's (without success).
The upgrading route was not an option as neither 8.04 or 8.10 would
install on either PC, and I have had problem after problem with 9.04
even though it does at least try to install. Never
Why don't you upgrade to 9.04?
download a live Cd and try it. If it works then upgrade. You might have
to do a multi stage upgrade. If you don't like upgrading then always use
a longterm support version. 7.04 is no longer supported so all your
efforts trying to put new software on the old operati
