As far as I know there's no package for squeezeplay/linux yet, and I
haven't
been able to run it successfully after building it by hand.
You can still use softsqueeze, but you'll need to download it from

Hei Folks
this afternoon I have been digging through filter creation and finally
gotten to the stage where Brutefir would come into the picture.
Filter creation following http://www.tarind.com/brutefir_drc.html which
left me with filter_l.pcm and filter_r.pcm
Fair enough, those went into /etc/sque
Apologies for probable idiocy of post, but I'm new to both ubuntu and
squeezeboxserver.
I want to listen to my music on the local machine, through its attached
speakers. I thought softsqueeze could do that so installed the required
java environment only to be told softsqueeze had been replaced by
Thanks for the responses. You verified my thinking. I was just a
little thrown off by other people saying they were having permission
issues, but I guess their settings on folders/files must be different
than mine.

No need to worry. The last octet (folders 5, files 4) means that all

Your music folder and files don't have to be owned by "squeezecenter"
or "squeezeboxserver."
How
I'm getting ready to take the plunge and upgrade to 7.4. I've been
reviewing a lot of threads, trying to make sure I'm aware of any
"gotchas" associated with this upgrade. I've got a question concerning
folder/file permissions on my music library with version 7.4.
I'm currently running version
I recently upgraded from 7.3.3 to 7.4 and a problem that I remember
having
some time ago has resurfaced. Something is going wrong in between tag
reading and insertion into the database that is messing up accented
characters (anything outside standard ascii, from what I can tell).
All of my music

Just to be sure;
I wrote a post
Ugh, I fix the typo, should not make releases at eleven o'clock :)
Resampling is an issue:
The Bug I mentioned is no bug at all, I missunderstood the placeholder.
Right now we need to figure out how to...
1. get the current samplerate of the played audio file
2. resample any file to 44100 (or wha
In the brutefirwrapper it appears that you made a typo. You have
squeezeboxcenter everywhere instead of squeezeboxserver.
The fix did cure my BITRATE issue. I will check out resampling if I
get a chance.

HEAD should always be good. I only push updates to googlecode from my
dev repo after testing is complete.
