Yes, I'm aware of issues with the latest build of squeezelite from vis
branch. (Silently dies with segfault in libpthread.) That's why I
already pulled it. sudo yum downgrade squeezelite will get you back
to the last git master branch version, 1.3-0.12 if you updated to the
vis branch version.

I have headless ubuntu server running in my home network and all my
music files are stored in that server. I use samba to share my music in
the network. I'd like to browse my music collection via webinterface
(ip/9000) with another pc and scan the collection so that squeezebox
touch could play

But i didnt understand the whole problem.
If someone sits on your system he can do all you can do as well - so use
a screensaver with password protection.
