meters. I'd actually gotten it working once under 6.0, but I don't
remember how.
I'm using the Grid skin, and under Jivelite VU Meter, I've chosen
Kolossos Oval. I choose Download or Save, and both appear to work OK.

I lost my first original Squeezebox a few weeks back and have been

Would it be possible, would it be beneficial, etc etc? I have no

I was thinking that since packagers include the Perl runtime, LMS could
be packaged with a compatible version of Perl, and then it would be
portable to (binary-compatible) systems

Either way, I think it's safe to say you *need* to reboot Linux a lot
less than Windows. Whether you actually *do* or not is another matter.

id Linux probably supports PAE
better than any other OS, but the technology is basically crap.
Whether that's true or not, I use a 64-bit OS on machines with less
than 4GB RAM without any noticeable performance hit, mostly because I
want to be able to use the same binaries on all of my machines.

different format? SlimServer may not deal gracefully with duplicates.
Also be sure to dump the database and rescan everything.

optical drive. So I shut down HAL because I don't need it on this

GB of data is an open question. No idea.
However, that does bring up an interesting point. If rebooting the
server always brings it back after it suffers an episode, I could
schedule a periodic "therapeutic/preventative reboot". Just like
managing a Windows server.

I can do that (not at the moment). /usr is on /. I wonder if this
could perhaps be a ulimit problem? I've never worked with ulimit
before but I believe SuSE has been using it by default since ~10.1.

What on earth can be going on! Could SlimServer really be creating
15Gigs of data files and crashing the server? Even if I can't stop

even when the browser is set to UTF-8, the line
across the top of the file browser screen that says what your current
directory is still displays garbage characters.
So it's not a fix, but it's still a huge improvement.
Probably not exactly the long-term solution
for everyone, but it works for me. I'd be happy to help troubleshoot
this further for a better fix though.

Edited the init script, stopped and restarted the process--same deal. I
also changed my browser's default encoding to UTF-8 and nothing
changed.
