Well, I've figured out two things. cdmackay is correct, allowing udp
traffic on those ports serves no purpose, and if I delete reject-with
icmp-host-prohibited on the INPUT chain things start working.
I cannot, unfortunately, get ulogd to produce any output. I am quite
sure it is user error. The
Ok, I give up. What is stopping squeezeplay from connecting to the
server running on the same network:
Code:
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)
target prot opt source destination
ACCEPT all -- 0.0.0.0/00.0.0.0/0cts
It sounds like we have very similar set-ups.
I am using kvm with libvirt on an F18 host with both virtio hdd and
bridged networking. I did a minimal centos install so no xwindows/gui.
Just finished resizing the VM image (a bit of a pain!) so the swap
partition is only 768MB, and the root partitio
Since installing LMS in newer distro's is becoming more of a pain, I
have created a simple CentOS VM to host LMS 7.7. Without much thought I
gave it 768MB ram and a single core of an Intel Q6600 and it runs great.
The swap partition in the guest is 1.5GB, and I imagine I could probably
shrink that
Has anyone made squeezeplay work with pulseaudio?
Squeezeplay outputs audio fine, but it is hijacking the audio device for
itself. Using padsp doesn't seem to make any difference.

Just wanted to say that the version in the first post works great for me
in Fedora 17 x64. I had to specify the correct device in the
DesktopJive.lua file before there was any audio output.
I threw together a simple desktop file so gnome has a launcher for it:
Code:

Ah, no. I didn't see that before.
It works great, thank you.

I do not have heavy CPU usage, if that is what you are asking?
This computer is just my home desktop, running Fedora 17. Squeezebox
server is the only full time daemon on here that isn't a default part of
an F17 install.
I have a Squeezebox v3/squeezebox classic and also I listen to music on
the
Whether the OS was recently reset or not seems to make no difference.
A few minutes ago it was doing its usual "2 seconds to respond to
pressing next track" thing, but right now it is near instant, and I
certainly haven't done anything major in that time frame.
I appreciate that maybe a native

Using what I believe is a more than adequate system for the LMS, I am
amazed at how slow the web interface can be to react, even from a
browser on the server system itself.
Are there any obvious tweaks that can be made? The wiki article on
performance monitoring was so out of date I didn't bother
n't suppose there is any way to have the squeezebox db metadata
from the mp3 files transferred to the metadata for the new flac files,
is there?
My old trackstat backup xml file is 14.6MB, and the new one, after
updating a lot of stuff to flac, is barely 10MB, to give you an idea of
how mu
y db files :(.
The log shows "Server died. Restarting." over and over.
I don't suppose I can some how import my ratings from the old db into a
"fresh" 7.7? I have trackstat backups. . . I guess I will
Can I
somehow install 7.7 and keep my database from the 7.6 installation?
I have to say I am a bit confused by all these versions of squeezebox
server/media center. 7.7 is a complete rewrite?
Thank you for any help!

sk
was wondering what the
proper way to take care of this is.
My RC_LANG is set to en_US.UTF-8, so I am not sure why squeezebox isn't
aware of this. Also:
Code:
env | grep "LANG"
LANG=en_US.utf8
So??
squeezeboxserver, and none of the files have ever had a
group (no group).
This is very frustrating!

that. I also copied the files with cp -a so users/groups/permissions
were preserved.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

my entire library :p).
I guess this is good, but if I recall, itunes used to screw up on 2.4
tags, but maybe they have fixed that by now. And god willing, I will
never have to use it again, anway.
Thank you for your help!
