You could save yourself a lot of trouble and install VortexBox. It will
install Fedora 10, SqueezeCenter, and an automatic CD ripper. You will
be up and running in about 1/2 hour.

I'm not really sure what's going on here. I admit that I haven't
personally tested the latest SC with F10, but I'm not aware of any
changes in either SC or SELinux that would break things. This is also
the only report of this specific failure that I've seen. I'll have to
install F10 and test, b

Not really a wiser head but ...
I set SELinux to permissive then when it throws up some

I'm hoping that wiser heads than mine will chime in and discuss
SELinux's relative merits in this context.

Do you get this every time you start squeezecenter? What about after a
system reboot?

I disabled SELinux as suggested. I was then able to start
squeezecenter, but got the warnings below. Anything to be concerned
about?
My plan is use this machine as a dedicated music server. Is there good
reason to have SELinux enabled for that mission?

I'm embarrassed to say that I always disable SELinux on my
machines. I've never really understood exactly what it does and how it
works.

Absent SqueezeCenter running on the F10 machine or on your windows box,
and absent the squeezebox being
In the gnome GUI, it's System->Administration->SELinux Managment.
Try setting the 'System Default Enforcing Mode' to 'Permissive' or
'Disabled' and see if that helps.

Poke around in the GUI's menu system. I think there is a separate
SELinux admin entry there where you ought to be able to disable it.

SELinux shouldn't cause any problems on F10.
You're right about the firewall being an issue, but the firewall should
just block access, not prevent SC from starting, so I still think
there's something else going on here.

The firewall and/or SELinux could be what are impeding you. I'd try
disabling SELinux and then check the firewall. I'm not sure if the SC
rpm opens the appropriate firewall ports for you or not. I always
manually open the appropriate ports when I setup a Fedora box for
SqueezeCenter. I don't u

Thanks.
As you say, I believe squeezecenter is running in the background.
However:
1. Firefox says it cannot connect to http://localhost:9000. I
understand localhost should be 127.0.0.1, so also tried
http://127.0.0.1:9000, which also failed.
2. /sbin/service squeezecenter stop resulted in me
The RPM doesn't add anything to the GUI menus because it is installed as
a system daemon and not as a user program. If everything went
correctly, it should have been started as part of the RPM install and
you should be able to check by going to http://localhost:9000. It
should also be configured
I am a windows user with no linux experience.
I have successfully set up a new computer with Fedora 10. I downloaded
the linux rpm version of squeezecenter. I accepted Fedora's offer to
install it and left the computer unattended. When I returned the
install screens were gone and I could see
