Yep, a ReadyNAS NV. I'm absolutely dreading the scan to turn the NV
into a standalone to bypass having to have the PC in the chain. I'm
going overseas again for 10 days - perhaps I should start the NV scan
before leaving for the airport.

I'm sure there's an easier, more kosher way to do it in Ubuntu also.
In ClarkConnect, the same thing can be accomplished with two mouse

It's easy to do from the command line:

Mark,
I will take a look at my Ubuntu setup. I have been running 6.5 for a
while. I've been a bad beta tester though, no updates since I got it
running. I will spend some time this weekend and compare notes with
what you have been having issues with. My setup has been running
without any seri

it's missing from my Service gui too, tool

I'm not sure what you mean here.
named (aka bind) is the program that does DNS resolution.
It is the program running on some server, usually your ISP's that does
the name resolution.
If you don't

My Linux newbieness is showing now (if it hasn't shown itself
already!)
How do I stop SlimServer from automatically starting?

This behavior is persisting after a reboot. Every time I reboot or
restart, my DNS entries have been cleared and I have to add them again.
Annoying to say the least.

Any advice before I
I just found out I lost all Internet access on the Ubuntu machine after
the SlimServer install, and I was getting ready to panic, when I took a
look at Adminstration - Networking.
Lo and behold, my DNS servers had been removed, which would explain why
I couldn't find any web pages.
