Just to let you know for those on 9.04.
I noticed there are problems related to AppArmor on 9.04, and it
doesn't even launch yet as far as I know. In order to get the
SqueezeCenter software running, I uninstalled AppArmor and immediately
the SqueezeCenter software installed.

I just noticed a similar problem to the one described in this thread. I
upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 a couple of weeks ago and havent had any
problems - other than I have to run with kernel 2.6.22-14-386. Today I
upgraded Squeezecenter from 7.1 to 7.2 and got the error:

This is the most frustrating piece of software I've come across in a

installation files, in and of themselves, aren't that great. They miss

No. sysvconfig isn't installed for me. I don't have my 8.04 machine

T5500 1.6GHz,
If you're running a single-user Linux system, why do you need something
like apparmor anyway? If this were my system, I'd nuke apparmor and
everything of its ilk. I don't need my OS to protect me from myself.
I'm happily running SqueezeCenter 7.0.1 on my Gentoo Linux system: no
process quotas,
Mine is a single user Ubuntu system. Apart from the 1000-odd per day web
visitors and port-scans that is.

For those seeking a less drastic solution for squeezecenter/mysql, then
the mysql apparmor profile can be disabled using these commands:
Code:
sudo ln -s
For those who don't know - Apparmor was a Novell project. What they did
was turn around the idea of a firewall to say - if it does not have
express permission to talk to something outside my system - it can't.
Simply brilliant in my books.
Combined with a firewall - nothing goes in or out

After a fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 I too could not get SC 7.0 to run.
After reading here and seeing that apparmor was likely the issue, I saw

There is still a problem with running 7.0.1 on Ubuntu 8.04.
Today's nightly installed OK but will not run - same symptoms as
yesterday - an apparmor problem.
I can get it to run by stopping apparmor, restarting squeezecenter and
