Took a drive I removed from one of my Nas's and threw it in the Ubuntu
machine. Copied all the files to it and then set the permissions.
Scanned and added the files to LMS with no issues.

No, tagging is all good. Its just that the files are on my DNS-323 Nas.
I confirmed it is permissions last night by creating a user named
Squeezeboxserver on the nas and giving it full read write privileges.
Now it starts the scan, finds the files and directories, and hangs when
it goes to add
I am having difficulty with Ubuntu 12.04 and Perl 15 (I'm at work and
cant remember the exact version.) Scanning media bombs and causes
system errors.
Would it be easier to:
a) install an earlier version with a perl version LMS likes?
b)add a perl version LMS lines to 12.04?
All I run on this
That's odd, since I had the opposite problem. When I upgraded from
10.04LTS to 12.04.1LTS the I ran into issues with Perl and the version
of LMS I was running (7.6.2 I believe)which prevented LMS from running
at all. I upgraded to the latest version of LMS (7.7.2) and it is now
running fine for
No but I guess I am going to have to. Music scanning is ok but media
scanning bombs immediately. What is the perl version required for the
latest stable release?
tedfroop's Profile:
I'm having no problems whatsoever with LMS 7.8 on Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64
with perl 5.14.2. I've got the DLNA plugin enabled and I'm scanning
4,370 multi-track flacs, 895 m4bs, 2104 m4vs 3045 jpg files...all with
no problems. After the scan, LMS reports:
-Total Images: 3,968
Total Videos: 2,106
That narrows it down to permissions then
