AFAIK there aren't/never have been any Slim Devices/Logitech public
keys for their Debian-style downloads.
It may be paranoid, bu
I use kubuntu rather than ubuntu, but I use synaptic as an update
manager.
perhaps the application that ubuntu uses is an ubuntu update manager.
try starting synaptic rather than the ubuntu update manager.
Only a guess...

install Squeezebox Server 7.5.3 (ppa: http://debian.slimdevices.com
stable main).
The only thing I could imagine is that you forgot to install the Mysql

no, i did a fresh install of 10.10, added the package details to
sources.list file. 7.5.2 installed fine, 7.5.3 (my first upgrade under
10.10) won't install via gui. I can't find anywhere in the options of
the gui to allow it to proceed, there is just no choice in the msgbox
that comes up saying

This has been going on for ages. Its because Squeezebox server (and
Squeezecenter and Slimserver before that) are not part of the official
Linux release program and have never been.
Because of this there is no key for the deb package to check to say its

I hit the same problem and so I did a "sudo apt-get upgrade" from a
terminal window, and it prompted me as to whether I wanted to install
the untrusted squeezeboxserver, to which I said yes.
Seems to have worked okay, although it's not an answer as to how to
work around the problem using update m

The update is listed in the Update Manager but when I click on 'Install
