I've never really understood how profiles are supposed work -
On a this list a few months ago property profiles were discussed, and I got
the feeling there were very few people that actually used these special
properties.
What would they be used for, Language changes? Skinning?

Hello,
Something has apparently changed from 4.0.0 to 4.5 that has badly broken
some logic in one of my stacks that use property profiles. It looks like
the behavior of revSetCardProfile may have changed. The stack works as
expected in 4.0.0 but is broken in 4.5.
Has anybody else

Hello All,
Has someone already tried to used Property Profiles for multi-language
management and revSetStackFileProfile for changing the profile ?
Are this property and function working well in all case ?
I tried to used for multi language part of my application, but many times

seem to be fixed now, but profiles are too confusing for me.

Hi Sarah,
Just like you, I tried to use profiles, before they were broken for 2
years. They seem to be fixed now, but profiles are too confusing for me.
Modifiying a property of an object causes the property profiles of
that object to change to make sure that the object stays unchanged for
Has anyone ever actually used profiles?
I haven't but I thought that I had a good use for them this time, so I
tried to set them up.
When I go to the profiles section of the inspector, I see a Master
profile listed in bold.
I created another 2 two profiles, planning to delete the Master later

Hi there,
actually it wasn't as difficult as I thought : time to give back to
the community !
This did it for me :
- created a stack with a button, 2 flds (+1 fld as result output)
- in fld "sta" (stacks) : list of the project's mainstacks (1 short
name per line)
- in fld "Langs" : list o

Hi Christian,
The text encoding in fields is respected when you move your stack from
one platform to another. All text in fields is converted to make it
display correctly in other operating systems. Data in properties is
not converted, because this would corrupt the data.

Hello,
I just finished translating my app into 3 languages ; I developped on
a Mac and I wanted to test my app on Windows.
Surprise, surprise the objects lables/text in German (Umlauts mainly)
or French (accents) are not respected (instead of Umlauts you have
different symbols) on the Win
1) It appears that I can't have master property profiles that I have
inherited for an entire stack. Is that correct?
2) If 1 is true, then what's an easy way to copy property profiles from one
object to another (objects of the same type)

Hi Derek,
I tried the same as you, copying the Property Profiles library to my
own stack, but I experiences execution errors when using it. I
believe this library needs to be updated. This bug has been reported
to QC already.

These property profiles seem very handy but they are driving me

I have, say 30 fields with each quite a few property profiles to show
the state of the field.
The user can select one or more fields and move them around. Now if the
script changes a

If there's code you want to run against a set of controls, then
Navigator will allow you to easily do it. There isn't a built-in
facility for dealing with profiles, but the command panel lets you run
arbitrary code against whatever controls are selected.

Any ideas on this one?
Would it be bad etiquette to post to the metacard list with this same
question?

Can anyone see why this script doesn't work? It apparently has no
effect on the Master profile. Script generates no errors, but the
properties are not getting set into the Master profile.
