Why can't you just PING those machines? If the don't answer they aren't
online.

My remote connection is via X11VNC to an Ubuntu-MATE desktop.
My X11VNC connections seems limited to 1360x768 at least when I check

I sent that late last nite & forgot to mention that if you don't use the
scripts but just the xrdp and x11rdp .deb files... there are also 2 .so
files that are for pulseaudio xrdp support that you will need. Look in
setup-ciab.sh to see where you need to copy them to & how to ser the

Since you are using Kubuntu 16.04 take a look at my GitHub:

If you already have your Kubuntu Desktop Server configured then the only 2
files you need are:
xrdp.deb
x11rdp.deb
And install those. I built them with the latest xrdp
Have you tried a diff browser like chrome/chromium? Is it may be safari
related.
